The story of our company began in Moscow, Russia, in 2005 when Dmitry Nechaev, the founder of Triton Bikes, designed his first titanium trials frames. Initially sourced from a third-party manufacturer, these frames were more of a hobby project but quickly gained success within the small biketrials community. This success led to the creation of the first mountain bikes, road bikes, and even unicycles. Dmitry’s dream was to establish Triton’s own production facility to ensure the highest quality and meticulous attention to detail.
Fast forward to 2011, when this dream became a reality. Triton’s own production facility was established in Moscow, staffed by a dedicated team of an engineer, a professional welder, a machinist, and a visual artist. All of them were passionate cyclists, a tradition that continues within our team today.
Since 2012, production has expanded significantly, encompassing a wide variety of bikes, including unique, deep custom projects. In 2021, the entire company, along with its team and equipment, relocated from Moscow to Sochi, the city of the Olympic Games. This move was driven by the desire to be closer to prime riding areas, allowing for year-round bike testing and development.
However, everything changed at the end of February 2022 with the onset of the war. Faced with these circumstances, we made the difficult decision to close Triton and leave our homeland.
In 2023, we reestablished the company as Tritão Cosmopolita in the heart of Europe’s bicycle industry, in Aveiro, Portugal. Since then, all our bikes have been handbuilt in Portugal. Our products are renowned for their modern engineering techniques, best-in-class titanium TIG welding, and precision CNC-machined parts. Since 2023, we have also advanced in 3D design and SLM titanium 3D printing, now integral to most of our bikes.
Tritão (Portuguese for Triton) has already showcased at the Eurobike Show in Frankfurt and the Bespoked Bike Show in Dresden. Our next stop: the Made Show in the USA.
